Veda Austin and Water Consciousness
Introduction
Does water have consciousness?
I have decided to explore this question looking at research undertaken by New Zealand water researcher Veda Austin.
Veda Austin was part of my study last year when I looked into water memory. This year I would like to take this a step further and see if there is consciousness behind the memory that water appears to have. How would this relate to homeopathy if water does have consciousness and how can this knowledge impact the world?
In last year’s talk I looked at Veda’s crystalline photography and how her quick freeze water pictures responded to messages in picture forms. Using many different ways to communicate with water; photos, words, music, thoughts and the spoken word, water clearly responded with recognisable frozen images.
Veda now has approximately 64,000 water photos and for the past four and half years she has been curious to discover if water is conscious or if her consciousness is impacting the water she freezes.
Veda started to use conceptual words to help her discover if there was more than just memory behind water’s images. She would write these words and put them under her glass petri dish before freezing them.
Ego - the image that appeared was a little neck with a huge balloon head and broad shoulders.
Conception - a picture of a round circle with what looked like a sperm inside.
Grief - water created a picture of a body with holes inside.
Veda then wondered about dreaming, a time when she was not consciously or actively participating with water. She then began putting a petri dish with water beside her bed at night. When she’d wake up in the morning she would try to remember her dreams. If there was a dream that she couldn’t remember at all, she would freeze the water so that she wasn’t influencing the picture that would be shown. What she discovered was that images would appear that would then jog her memory and she would remember her dream entirely.
Veda's Dream
I was a midwife to this huge cloud. The cloud would take on various shapes of people and animals, but it was coming close to the time to birth and the cloud was heavily pregnant. I was helping the cloud to relax and breathe as she began the birthing process. After some time past, her waters broke like a shower of rain, and out came a crocodile. The crocodile was huge and immediately swam away down a river. The cloud was now empty and quickly disappeared.
How could water accompany Veda into the dream world? Could water be an observer? Is water both physical and spiritual?
Water has a close connection with spirituality, particular bodies of water are revered and used in purifications, blessings, healing and connection to divine paths. Veda wondered if spiritual waters could be the water that is the observer and physical water be the house of memory? We have both observer and memory abilities within ourselves.
Veda discovered that water is much more interested in how someone is feeling rather than what they are thinking. If she is sad it might design sad faces rather than what she is wanting it to do and if she is feeling hurried or frustrated then the crystallography won’t design any crystal pictures at all. A friend showed her a photo in the frozen water of a dog, her dog had died recently and although she was trying to think about tulips and asking the water to create this image, it showed her a picture instead of her dog, as she was feeling the sadness of the loss of her much loved dog.
If water has its own original voice what can it teach us? Does it have deep ancient wisdom?
Could water be observing itself from every perceivable and imperceivable perspective in all things?
“Renouncing any form of its own, it becomes the creative matrix for form in everything else. Renouncing any life of its own, it becomes the primal substance of all life. Renouncing material fixity, it becomes the implementer of material change. Renouncing any rhythm of its own, it becomes the progenitor of rhythm elsewhere.” – Theodor Schwenk, Water Researcher 1910-1986 Book Sensitive Chaos
Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy believed that proper medicine should focus on stimulating what he called the 'vital force' or 'spirit-like medicinal powers' inherent to the body in a manner that would restore harmony. He recognised the spiritual basis for homeopathy, referring to the vital force as a spirit-like dynamis that animates our body.
Veda and Homeopathy
“My process was to add a couple of drops of a certain remedy into specifically collected, pristine spring water, and then I’d freeze it using my method of short term crystallography.”
For these tests, the water was prepared and frozen within 30 minutes of collection from the aquifer.
Why didn’t I use distilled water?
The reason I chose to use spring water was because I feel it holds similarities to the human bio system. These remedies are taken orally, and the human body is a complex salt water system. I wanted to see how these remedies performed in a energetically ‘dynamic’ environment, with not too much salt/mineral content (like in sea water) but not too little, and still retaining the energy of movement and flow. I’ve also found that the naturally dissolved salts/minerals in this spring water helped store information longer, and the water is very ‘alive’ and receptive to anything I add. These salts are not present (or barely present) in distilled water. When I have use distilled water and added homeopathic remedies, I found that the results were not as clear.
Given the dilution process of homeopathy, I believe the water is not only storing the trace elements of the original plant/remedy, but also holds the spirit and potent essence of it.”
The vital force has many names all over the world; Prana, Chi (Qi), Ki, Ka and in the New Zealand Maori culture, the word Mauri is used. They believe that this energy binds and animates all beings in the physical world. Without Mauri, mana cannot flow into a person or object. Mana refers to an extraordinary power or essence which applies to the energies and presences of the natural world.
Earth still remains a mystery to science, despite earth being covered by 75% of water, scientists are unable to tell us where water came from. They do however tell us that earth was filled with a watery soup for 200 million years, long before single cell life evolved.
Almost without exception, mythological and folkloric traditions around the ancient world were concerned with the matter of deep time and the earth’s creation. While creation myths exhibit great variety and often echo the prevailing psychology of their respective peoples, there is one important element that remains relatively common to a range of broadly dispersed ancient cultures, the primordial waters. These waters are often represented as having filled the entire universe, the cosmic ocean being the shape of the universe before creation.
“The whole universe is made up of water. All beings are made up of water.. Water is truth and all the deities are water. All the worlds are made up of water”. Mahanarayana upanishad 4. (Sacred Indian Text)
“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Then God said, “let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” Then God made the firmament, and it divided the waters which were under from the waters which were above.” Genesis 1:2 (The Bible)
Many indigenous creation stories do not have a sense of linear time, there is no past tense and no future tense but all times are unfolding as right now and if not happening right now are backstage just about to happen. There is a constant ongoing creation in every moment as the universe is born and reborn in every moment with every breath.
A scientific experiment carried out by the Aerospace Institute in Germany whereby a group of students froze their petri dishes of water several times, resulted in the same pattern for each student, yet different between students, the water appeared to be showing straight away a relationship with each student individually. Is water looking to have a relationship with us individually?
It is interesting how women who live together will often find that they get their periods at the same time. Even though this occurrence has been reported by millions of women for centuries, science hasn’t found enough evidence to support this menstrual synchrony.
Veda investigated healing by proximity in a study using egg albumin, which is very watery and is the thin part of the egg white.
She froze egg whites from healthy happy free range hens and the patterns that appeared were beautiful and flowering with six or more different patterns. However when she looked at the egg albumin from eggs that were from caged hens there was only one or two shapes and they were often broken.
Veda then put the caged eggs next to the free range eggs overnight to see if there was any change to the patterns being made in both eggs. The free range egg patterns stayed as they were, but the caged eggs that were closest to the free range eggs had begun to change their patterns and appeared to be picking up improvement just by proximity to the free range eggs!
It would seem that nature is looking to improve, not downgrade even in the embryonic stage. If we heal ourselves perhaps we can indeed heal others.
The typical pattern of tap water is very different from the typical pattern of spring water, spring water is filled with ferns and shoots and symmetry whereas tap water is jagged and broken.
Veda noticed a structural improvement to the tap water after holding the melted tap water petri dish to her heart lovingly. She froze it again after and observed that the tap water's structure had improved.
Consciousness Experiment
In 1986 Rene Peoc'h conducted an experiment to show telekinesis - (movement of an object by thought/consciousness). He used newly hatched chicks and a small specially made robot.
Rene introduced the newly hatched chicks to his special robot and they bonded with it and yearned to be close to it thinking it was their mother.
The robot could drive itself around on wheels and had a pen underneath to trace its path on paper as it moved. It had a random number generator on the steering - every few seconds it changed direction. It was put on a large table with a low sidewall to prevent the robot falling off and the table was covered by a sheet of white paper. The robot was placed in the centre of the paper and set moving.
The robot traced a random pattern across the table. Peoc’h put 15 chicks which were bonded to the robot in a cage at one end of the table and put the robot in the centre of the table and switched it on again. The chicks felt anxious when it moved away from them, yearning to be closer. The chicks had a profound effect on the robot’s movement. It moved towards the chicks at the end of the table as close as possible and the drawings were now only near to the cage of the chicks nowhere else.
He then put rabbits into the cage and the robot traced a random pattern again, so went all over the table. When he put a light on top of the robot the rabbits seemed to like it, so the robot went near the rabbits and just drew pictures beside them too. This experiment showed how powerful consciousness is, even in baby chicks and rabbits.
Water in a crystalline state is in a stage between water and solid, in a state of creation using its building blocks of ice to design.
Veda Austin in exploring water consciousness created something called hydroglyphs, which are symbols frozen in ice that have one or more meaning. She calls them the language of water. When she asked water what is a hydroglyph it replied in hydroglyphs saying living messages.
The Tree Of Life Hydroglyph - Wisdom.
Prior to freezing Veda invites the water to show her a symbol for each presented word. For example she might write, 'abundance', on a piece of paper, place her petri dish of water on top of it for 30 seconds, remove and then freeze it. Like all her work Veda has to have seen the same hydroglyph image appear after using the same written word at least fifty times. She then knows that it is not coincidental and there’s enough evidence to say it has a specific meaning. Frozen symbology is how the messages of water are revealed inviting us to dive deeper into meaning, connection and the subtle realms of consciousness.
The Coin Hydroglyph - Money/Abundance. Prior to freezing Veda invites the water to show her a symbol for each presented word...
The Lotus Hydroglyph - Enlightenment/ Purity/Spirituality
Veda has observed that both written and spoken words have energy, and when that energy is exposed to water, it absorbs and translates it into a symbol or pictogram as it freezes.
“When the human race learns to read the language of symbolism, a great veil will fall from the eyes of men”. Many P. Hall
Veda tells us that it is good to feel into the crystalline picture rather than think of what it reminds you of, that feeling into symbolism is important.
A petri dish that she put on top of a wedding invitation formed a picture of a ring. A ring also appeared in the water when responding to music and the song ‘Single Lady’ by Beyonce. In the song there is a repeated line, 'If you like it then you should put a ring on it'. This line implies marriage but also uses the word ring. Rings showed up when the water petri dish was put on a Lord of the Rings dvd.
Love appears as a heart
The word snow in Japanese came out as a snowflake
Veda asked the water in her petri dish, ‘Do you know my name?'. The water wrote VA, her initials, then ‘Do you know my Indian given name? and VK came out, Veda Karan, which again is correct.
Music playing, ‘Stairway to Heaven’ by Led Zeppelin showed a ladder.
A Star Glyph - Light, guidance and imagination and also memory - past and future
Here is a picture of how the water responded when I asked it to show me homeopathy!
Water in a liquid stage is said to be updating its information every trillionth of a second, molecular chaos. It is very attracted to the light frequency energy and when you are focused on it for a specific time frame or have a specific relationship with water, perhaps this is how it can observe a person’s conscious thoughts or the energy of words.
Quantum physics tells us that there is a big difference between molecular chaos and molecular excitement. Anything excited tends to be about something, and this forms a focused energy. Energy is information, but then how does consciousness transfer to the water? Perhaps it transfers by light?
When Veda was interviewing an Native American woman she said that she could speak to bees and watched their hives for long periods of time, she said one day a bee came out and communicated to her; ‘We don't mind you looking at our hive but please don't look at it for too long because your conscious expression is putting too much light into our hive and we like it to be darker’.
Veda has noticed over the years that she has sometimes seen water as it is beginning to freeze and it sends these little shoots out, tiny spikes and every now as it's just starting to move and form at the end of this spike is a light which she managed to capture on camera; the light looks like a halo. When she applies the story of the bee with this observation, what she thinks is actually happening is that the light is paving the way for the design of the water.
Water is essentially mostly made of photons, so it’s liquid light but when it starts to form, before it's a solid, it's a liquid crystal, more of a lattice like structure and is able to store more information in this powerful stage.
Then if you think about crystals and technology storing information and that we are liquid crystals, as essentially we are salt water, a crystal with an electrical component, it brings us into this idea of all the incredible potential we have that we haven't even realised. How much potential is there in this human body?!
Just like water, salt is found in every single living cell on the Planet, and is the major mineral in extracellular fluid and seawater. Salt controls our taste, smell and tactile processes, even the simplest reaction in our body requires salt or its inherent elements in ionised form. Salt conducts thoughts which are your commands to move your body and without it we’d be paralyzed.
We are water, salts, minerals and consciousness. Water doesn’t die, it evaporates, it will always go back into one of its other stages, if you put it in water and it disappears, we know that salt is in there, but when water evaporates the salt remains. Even when you cremate someone their ashes are actually salts. We are made of these immortal components and when you talk about consciousness, science can't explain consciousness but you can’t take consciousness out of the equation of who we are.
“Crystal Salt is the most important remedy for mankind” - Plinius (23-79 AD)
Conclusion
Veda says at this time she cannot prove that water has consciousness despite all her findings (I think that recent talks by Veda say otherwise). From my little ‘dip’ into this area my thoughts at the moment are that it could be our own powerful consciousness within the water of our bodies that is influencing everything along with all other consciousnesses we are connected to (I think our memories are held within the crystal salts of the water and our consciousness is within the waters).
Water is in every cell of our body, but perhaps water is not restricted to our body but flows out into the waters around us in the air we breathe and connects us to all others and their consciousness too.
This field is not restricted to humans, but to all life which has its own consciousness — birds, plants, trees, insects, marine life. We are all powerfully connected to and part of nature and we are all influencing and affecting each other. We are all one.
Taking it one step further as all nature is connected by water, all is also connected to the Divine or Source Energy or God. We are all part of this vital force and water is a means of connecting us.
This would make sense of Veda’s dream petri dishes as even though she wasn’t awake her consciousness is still flowing around her, it would make sense in explaining all the petri dishes that have had words written under them or words and feelings breathed into them. It is her consciousness and her consciousness is flowing within her and outside of her and connecting and affecting all that is. I have read that we all have a morphic field around us of about twenty feet, but I have no idea if this is true, I think quantum physics in the years ahead will be probably be able to map this.
I thought it was very interesting how the consciousness of chicks and rabbits affected the small battery operated robot, and wondered about human consciousness and the impact we have on each other and the world.
The healing that happened with egg proximity perhaps is due to the vital force that is constantly looking to heal given the right conditions, which also says something about the Divinity of every life and the connection to the spiritual. Homeopathic philosophy recognises this continuum between the spiritual and physical, the non-material life force, animating the physical.
I have been using Veda’s freezing technique for a couple of months now, at first I couldn’t make sense of any of the pictures at all, but now I am slowly beginning to see and understand the different shapes and how to do it properly! I found it very interesting that when I thought of homeopathy lots of little white ‘pills’ appeared among the darker ferns and shapes. I froze my saliva on its own and with water to see if it would give me a picture of a homeopathic remedy that I might need or a constitutional type, but unfortunately I couldn’t make sense of the ice pictures! I wonder if there is the potential for this in the future…. In my last talk Veda had showed an x ray of her hand with its own unique features after putting her finger in the water, maybe water wil be used for x-rays too one day?!
It was interesting to also fully realise what salt water beings we are and how important salt is for us. Also that water is very connected to light which also connects to ancient wisdom and spirituality.
Something I hadn’t included in my research is how we see through water in the lens of our eyes and as mentioned earlier how water is in every breath we take! Water feels so incredibly important and not just for our physical nourishment. If all consciousness is held within water perhaps when we go into large natural bodies of water we have a greater connection with everything that is and everything that has ever been.
Veda’s tap water lovingly held shows the importance of what we put out into our world. If our consciousness flows all around then putting loving kindness into the morphic field will not only help heal ourselves but will also help heal others too.
Astrologers tell us we have just stepped into the Age of Aquarius.
Aquarius, the sign where a person (woman), is holding a container of water and pouring ‘The Waters’ out into the world. One of the earliest pictures even found is this picture of the sign of Aquarius.
(Film recommendation: Hair)
”When the Moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.“
Perhaps in this New Age of Aquarius our watery creative Divine consciousness will recognise its oneness with everything, leading us to healing, peace, harmony, abundance and love for all beings on this beautiful Mother Earth.
The waters are singing in the rainbows of every being.

Veda has been interviewed by lots of different people and you can find many different talks on youtube by just putting in her name. Her website will lead you to her shop where you can buy her longer talks which includes talks by others, and instructions on how to create her crystalline water pictures too. She has a package for children as well and if you buy one of her longer talks the instructions are often in the links as well. She has a pdf about hydroglyphs too.
To make a crystalline ice picture you just need a glass petri dish, she has 10cm dishes but mine are smaller. She uses two tablespoons of water, (spring water best but try different waters), if you have a smaller dish you need less water. The best results are small amounts of water and flash freeze the water. Her dish takes four and a half minutes and she sets her phone timer (it is easy to miss the time). You want to take the water out when it is only slightly set and there is a layer of water on the top. You take it out of the freezer, tip the top water away and hold up the dish and take a picture on your phone before it starts melting. It does take a while to get the right time and amount of water, just play with the water and as Veda would say, create a relationship with the water and see what happens!
